Welcome to The Listening Post, where each week we get an insight into the radio listening habits of a guest contributor. Once each person has made their picks, we ask them to nominate someone for the following week's Listening Post...
Last week Katie Boden, a Broadcast Assistant for BBC Radio London and Producer at Soho Radio provided us with her listening highlights. They included 'The Untold' on BBC Radio 4 and Switched On Pop's 'The Oeuvre of Taylor Swift'. You can view her full selections here.
Katie has nominated Sean Thorne, Breakfast Presenter on Fun Kids Radio to provide his selections.

1. Jon Holmes - Weekend Breakfast, Radio X - 6.30 - 10am
"I often find myself quite jealous of Jon Holmes. I think it was my strict BBC upbringing which has built in this instinctive “are you sure you can get away with saying that?” filter in my brain. Needless to say I don’t think Jon has one of those and it makes for a very enjoyable weekend morning listen. I’m particularly fond of the quizzes about Vernon Kay which pretty much confuse all people involved, and always appreciate the chance to win a slab of meat for a Sunday roast. Con and Dave also add to the nonsense as well. Con probably has the most mismatched sounding voice/intelligence combination in radio history."

A unique and funny listen
2. Generation Y - Roundhouse Radio
"I have a touch of bias here as Tom & Marcus are like my radio sons. I started working with them at Roundhouse around a million years ago just as they were finding their feet and introduced them to the insane genius that is young Joseph Kramer. It’s hard to describe Joe, I’ve never met or heard anybody like him. The three of them are really managing to craft a unique and very funny show for themselves - this week followed Joe’s quest to find “the one” and it was ace to hear how far they’ve progressed."

A nice solid dose of cheeriness
3. The Club with Bex, Fun Kids Radio
"It’s very hard not to be in a good mood when Bex is around in real life. So it’s ideal that she’s on the radio at 4pm just when we’re getting towards the business end of the working day and you’re in need of a nice solid dose of cheeriness. My threshold for pop music is also very very high, so if you’re up for a steady stream of One Direction and Lunchmoney Lewis then Bex is guaranteed to make the latter part of your day far more enjoyable."

4. Played Up with The RH Experience, Roundhouse Radio
"The RH Experience are one of the best improv comedy acts I’ve seen. Let’s get that out of the way first, but do their wonderful talents translate to the radio? A resounding yes. They’re one of those shows that are quite tricky to listen to when walking about because you start grinning or chuckling out loud - unsettling your surrounding Londoners. Their show is built around a guest who has brought “cassette tapes” to be played on the radio. The RH experience then improvise the contents of the cassette tapes to often hilarious results. 100% one to check out."

5. The Attitude Era Podcast
"I’ve been afflicted with the curse of never being able to grow out of Professional Wrestling. It’s been quite a tumultuous affair really costing me thousands of pounds in trips to America and the such like. It’s quite a struggle. For those of you who, like me suffer from never being able to grow out of wrestling or the lucky ones among you who did grow out of the silliness but fondly remember the days of Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and The Undertaker – I’d recommend the Attitude Era podcast. A very fun nostalgic look back at WWF wrestling from 1998 – 2001, expertly delivered by Kevin Mahon and his merry men of wrestling superfans."
Next Week's Listening Post:
"I nominate my good friend and partner in nonsense crime Dave Cribb, the wonderful producer of Jon Holmes on Radio X, which has absolutely no bearing on my decision for choosing his show as one of my picks."
Check back next Friday for Dave's suggestions...
