Welcome to The Listening Post, where each week we get an insight into the radio listening habits of a guest contributor. Once each person has made their picks, we ask them to nominate someone for the following week's Listening Post...
Last week, the Listening Post returned to the nest with Folded Wing producer Pete Linney choosing his selections.
Pete's choices included 'The Day We Won Wimbledon' on 5 live, Meshel & Tommy on Nova 100 and the podcast 'Hip Hop Saved My Life'. You can view his full selections here.
For this week's Listening Post Pete has nominated his old student radio station manager, Kieran Simpson to provide his selections. Kieran is a Brit living down under, currently working as a producer for Melbourne's 3AW.

1. Kate, Tim and Marty - Nova 969
"Kate, Tim and Marty are nationally, the biggest drive show in Australia right now, ahead of Hamish and Andy because of the dry, quick humour but also because they have got the wow factor. They have built an audience which rave about the show and without much advertising have managed to reign supreme. One of their finest moments every week is playing on Kate Ritchie's (Sally from Home and Away) competitive nature in a game called ''Quick Draw''. The game is simple, pick a topic and a letter and the first person to scream out gets a point. It's tense, fun and the play-a-long factor will have you screaming."
You can catch Kate, Tim and Marty on all Nova stations at 5AM in the UK or 8AM if you listen to Nova 93.7 online (Perth is 3 hours behind)

2. Hughesy and Kate - KIIS Stations
"Hughesy and Kate are on at the same time as Kate, Tim and Marty but on all KIIS stations and 96FM in Perth. Hughesy and Kate launched Nova in Melbourne before doing breakfast there for 12 years. They left in 2013 before popping up in 2015 on KIIS across Australia, this time doing drive. In their first year they have managed to become a very strong drive show with creative content way above what they were doing at Nova. One of the major story archs of the year has been the introduction of Kate playing Barb, a woman with a lot of money who is looking for love. As part of this storyline they have started to catfish the con artists that prowl online dating sites and everyday have a new phone call to play between Barb and her lover. The above audio is the final act between Barb and her online con artist and is the perfect way to finish."

The 'how do you do it everyday' factor
3. Ross and John - 3AW 693 in Melbourne
"Ross and John are Melbourne's number 1 breakfast show. They are on 3AW, an AM station that attracts 18% of listeners in Melbourne. They are a stunning, effortless listen that rarely touch the political side of things that the rest of the shows on the station do. Every morning they have a segment called ''The Rumour File'', where they ask for calls on what the public have heard may be about to break news, that hasn't yet been broke. The best caller of the year wins a Lexus, so it isn't something to be snubbed at. The audio attached is the epitome of the segment, a rumour has been rung in and the producers have chased it down.. the rumour is true and it is time to break it!"
Ross and John are on 3AW 693 in Melbourne at 6:30PM Sunday to Thursday (UK time)
Everybody needs good callers
4. Meshel & Tommy
"The show I used to work on, Meshel and Tommy, built up a great audience that loved to call in. Every morning we would play a game called Pick The Hit whereby we would play the stat of the song, the caller needs to yell 'STOP' and then has 5 seconds to tell us what the song is. Here's how Andy from Geelong went."
One I'm too excited to listen to...
5. Serial
"As I write this it has come to my attention that the new Serial has come out. Season 2 is here. I listened to the first season while in America and flew out of Baltimore airport at one stage and nearly told my taxi driver to go past the Best Buy because I was so intrigued. Most people would have listened to Serial by now but the thought of Season 2 being here has me so excited that I have to calm down before I listen to really take it all in. I also have to end this post here to go and listen."

Next Week's Listening Post:
"I'd like to keep it in the student radio family and nominate my friend Tom Watts. Tom is now Capital East Midlands drive host. He is a massive music fan, so it should be completely different!"
Check back next Friday for Tom's selections...
