Our newest show Brasil Music Exchange is already up to five episodes! The latest programme went live this week and showcases the best new music from Central Brazil. So for the blog this week we thought we'd get presenter Jody Gillett to pick some of her favourite tracks from the latest two shows and take us a bit deeper into the music of these amazing new Brazilian artists. Take it away, Jody:
Read more"We've clocked up thousands of musical miles on our trip around the new sounds of Brazil. Our shoes are broken! Our ears are open! We play tracks by independent artists, sourced direct from Brazil to share what's happening right now, across Brazil's cities and scenes. Our latest shows are dedicated to the far north and the central zone - from the mouth of the Amazon to the heart of the country.
Brasil Music Exchange - Episode 4: New Northern Sounds
There's a northern takeover going on in Brazil. Raw tecnobrega beats, twangy guitarrada riffs and bouncy carimbó rhythms are working their way into the national soundtrack, so this is a great time to take a listen. Here's a couple of northern highlights from our playlist:
Jaloo
Sci-fi brega wonderboy Jaloo is an amazing young producer from Belem in Pará. He's getting a lot of love for his neon electro remixes and also makes his own dreamy tracks. I love this cover of the 1969 Gal Costa classic. Bicycles in Belem, Baby!
Gaby Amarantos
Gaby Amarantos is the queen of tecnobrega. She blasted out of the Amazon rave scene to become a national pop star, which is totally unprecedented for a tecnobrega artist. This is her breakout hit, 'Xirley'.

Brasil Music Exchange - Episode 5: Central Brazil
In the heart of the country we hit the capital, Brasilia, rocky city Goiânia and indie hub Belo Horizonte. Our playlist highlights include rising stars Boogarins, who are having an incredible time - one of the biggest international success for Brazilian independent music right now. They're touring all over Europe and the US this summer. Ever seen a psychadelic rock band from Goiânia? Don't miss these guys. Their live dates are here and they sound like this:
Sexy Fi
Sexy Fi bring outsider rock from the capital, mapping out their own soundscapes in their extraordinary modernist city designed by Brazil's legendary architect Oscar Niemeyer.

In Episode 6 we'll be heading to the deep south, with gaucho guitar, sweet drifty folk and a very special interview with the brilliant new star of Brazilian hip hop - Karol Conka."
