With this week seeing Prince perform in the front room of Lianne La Havas’ house in East London, we thought that on the blog this week we should share the dream gigs we would like in our front rooms! Dead or Alive each of us has picked the act we'd like to entertain us in our house and the one track we'd want them to play…

"Prince would be fairly amazing, and I nearly went for The Stone Roses... but I think my ultimate choice would be the John Coltrane Quartet, circa 1963. Playing a 20+ minute version of 'My Favourite Things'... Elvin Jones on drums, Jimmy Garrison on bass, McCoy Tyner on piano and the man himself, John William Coltrane blowing away on soprano sax... that would be a heavy gig for my front room in Leytonstone."

“Mine would be The Specials (with Jerry Dammers) playing ‘Much Too Young’. It’s basically a house party anthem with my lot - I'd invite all my pals over for some proper living room skanking."

“I’d talk to the people who resurrected Tupac and set up a hologram machine in my front room so that I could get Buddy Holly and the Crickets in for a gig (if there were the budget I'd get the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens in as support). It was 55 years ago this month that Buddy died in a plane crash and I've always been envious of my dad seeing him play in Woolwich in the late 50s. I've loved his music since I was little. Everyone knows him for ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘Peggy Sue’, but my favourite song was always his version of ‘Bo Diddley’ - I love the simplicity of the track and the shuffling beat with his voice."

“Mine would be D'Angelo... with James Poyser on keys, Pino Palladino on bass & Questlove on drums, playing D’Angelo’s ‘Spanish Joint’”

“This one’s pretty tricky, I would love to have had Nick Drake in my front room, just playing ‘Pink Moon’ from start to finish, I imagine it would be pretty spell binding. Unfortunately he notoriously hated playing live, so I doubt even if it was possible that he’d want to! So if it couldn’t be Mr Drake, I’d love to have Jimmy Fallon, The Roots and the cast of Sesame Street in my house in Balham to perform the Sesame Street Theme Tune, then they can just hang around all day if they like, imagine having a beer with Big Bird!”
